Quick Facts
The Department has 644 Students, 22 Academic Staff (full-time and part-time), 1 Principal Administrative Assistant and 1 Supporting Staff. Of the Academic Staff, 4 are Associate Professors, 10 are Senior Lecturers and 8 Lecturers.
For the period under review the Academic Staff have conducted over 50 researches; produced 45 Peer Reviewed Journal Articles, 14 Books, 6 Book Chapters and 19 Conference Papers and Proceedings.
The Academic Staff served on various committees at KNUST, in Ghana and outside Ghana.
Some Academic Staff, the Department and a Student received awards:
- Rev. J. E. T. Kuwornu-Adjaottor: William Shakespeare Research Award-2015 in Religious Studies, accredited by the International Agency for Standards and Ratings.
- Rev. Fr. John Opoku: Best Researcher – Runner-up, Royal Bank-CASS Award for the 2014/2015 Academic Year.
- The Department of Religious Studies: Best Department in Research in the College of Art and Social Sciences for the 2014/2015 Academic Year.
- Mr. Caleb AduAgyemang: Best Student in the Department of Religious Studies for the 2014/2015 Academic Year.
There are weekly seminar presentations for MA and Mphil Students. Also, colloquiums are orgnanised at the beginning and ending of every semester for the doctoral students.
Field trips and excursions are organised periodically for the students.
